Be Your Best You!
It all comes down to a positive mindset! This week we embark on the 2016 CrossFit Open. Many of you have put this in the back of your head since last February. Some of you may have been thinking about it now for the past couple of months wondering if you've done what you said you were going to after the last Open. There are a few of you who have been living and breathing training, nutrition and mindset for the past 12 months. Whatever your story, however long your focus has been, take the time over the next 5 weeks to give the Open your best shot. It doesn't matter how you finish. True character is revealed in the effort your put forth regardless of how prepared you are for the endeavor. Don't let life excuses get in the way of you challenging yourself and discovering where you are in your fitness journey right now. Who knows? You may even have a little fun in the process.
The list of reasons why we may not be in better shape than last year can be endless. Believe me, I know. It has been a very challenging year for us getting through a 6 month deployment, welcoming our beautiful son, Benjamin, and moving across the country the day after the Open begins (woo woo!). All we can do is take it in stride. If you've given it the best effort you can, you should feel nothing less than proud of what you were able to accomplish and blessed to have some of the things that may have gotten in your way. Bottom line, don't let your fear of failure impede your ability to succeed.
Resilience is one of my favorite words and, in turn, a favorite human quality. The human spirit was made to learn. We thrive off of education, adaptation, and perserverence. Naturally, one of the greatest ways we learn is through failure. Resilience means that you experience, you feel, you hurt, you fail, but you keep going. How resilient are you?
So, as we come down to the wire of the first workout announcement of the 2016 CrossFit Open, don't think about where you've been, think about where you want to go. Kudos to those that have registered for participation to find out. If you're still sitting at work, biting your nails staring at the Games page, wondering if you should register, DO IT! Only you can start the journey at being the best, most resilient you that you have ever been. Register at www.games.crossfit.com
