Athlete of the Month: Sherry Jeffery


When did you start CrossFit?

I first started CrossFit in October 2014.

What’s your favorite lift? Favorite workout?

My favorite lift is the Power Snatch. I just love 'em.

Favorite memory? (this can be a PR, a competition or any memory in general)

My favorite memory. So many great ones. I would say the memory of a family who dropped in a few summers ago. They have an adopted teenage son with one arm. He worked out along side his family with no special treatment. They taught him how to adapt as is. He could do cleans with one arm! Very inspiring.

How has CrossFit impacted your life?

CrossFit has impacted my life in a couple of ways. Before I started, my body was stiffening up. I was getting concerned. My doctor told me I had arthritis. Since CrossFit, all those symptoms are gone. I feel great, have lots of energy and I'm continually pleased with what I can achieve in the gym. Aside from the health benefits, I have met so many great people. I started CrossFit right after I moved to Beaufort full time. ITC was a huge help in making friends and branching outside the borders of Beaufort.

What are your goals for this year?

My goals for this year are to keep improving on my pull ups and double unders. I finally climbed all the way up the rope this year, so I have proof it's possible to reach new goals if I keep at it. Barb is a huge inspiration!
